If you've been following us on Facebook lately, you've probably seen us hyping up the St Thomas Dodge Ram Rodeo that took place this past weekend. We were incredibly proud, honoured, and excited to be hosting the beer garden at this event - and after months of prep and planning, the weekend was PHENOMENAL!
The atmosphere was wonderful mix of professionalism and relaxation. This was a legit rodeo, with bull riders and barrel racing, cowboys and cowgirls. Those who have committed to the 16 location tour, putting their heart and soul into the experience, connecting with their animals and the crowd. Cowboys really are the nicest people! It was a fun-for-the-whole-family event, as there was a pre-show and an intermission that allowed the little ones to get in the ring and tour "behind the scenes".
It wouldn't have been complete without door prizes, a 50/50 draw, vendor alley, and food trucks serving delicious local fare. The charity of choice was St Thomas Elgin General Hospital, and I think we did them proud.
A special treat for attendees was the amazing musical talents of Ty Baynton - a rider with the rodeo and an up-and-coming country singer. He played both days, literally feet from us! His acoustic set consisted of popular songs, his personal favs, and requests. Definitely an awesome way to wrap up both days
Now - the beer garden! We had an 11,000 square foot, ringside garden, with food, live music, and of course, fabulous beverages! We were pouring Railway City Brewing Co., Hometown Brew, Quai Du Vin Sangria, and two of the event sponsors, Coors Lite, and Albert Premium, for enjoyment. And we were busy! I cannot express how much fun it was, how wonderful the people were, and how "whoa, we did that" the experience has been. From collecting permits and insurance, to physically staking out and building the garden, to actually serving all weekend - this was one we'll always remember and be thankful for.
